ON A MARTINGALE BASED APPROACH FOR THE ESTIMATION OF THE PARAMETERS AFFECTING THE GROWTH OF A TUMOUR

SUMMARY. The work in this communication aims at the estimation of the parameters of the growth process of a tumor, the expected time for its detection, and the amount of carcinogenic and potentially carcinogenic toxin present in the body at the time of detection. The last two estimates are not clinically obtainable by measurement or by any other empirical procedure. The growth process of tumor in this work is based on the hypothesis formulated by Chiang and Conforti (1989). The parameters are estimated using stopping rules of Martingles.
