OPTIMALITY IN THE COMPETING EFFECT MODEL

SUMMARY.  A competing effects model introduced by Raghavarao, Feerer and Schwager (1986) is considered in the class of binary designs. It is shown that for estimating the competing effects and also for estimating the treatments and competing effects together, a 3-design is universally optimal.
