INFLUENCE ON CLASSIFICATION AND PROBABILITY OF MISCLASSIFICATION

By

WING K. FUNG, The University of Hong Kong

SUMMARY. The influence of an observation in multiple-group discriminant analysis is investigated through the estimates on misclassification probabilities under two different classification rules that are obtained using the null sample and the sample without the observation. A fixed underlying multinormal distribution is taken for evaluating the estimates. Influence on misclassification probability estimates for individual groups is also considered. The proposed measures may be applied under different choices of prior probabilities. They are studied using a real data set.
