SUMMARY.  This note provides a method, which is an adaptation of the second method of McLeod and Bellhouse for the for the simple random sample without replacement, for drawing a sample with probability proportional to aggregate size in the single pass through a sampling frame of a finite population whose size is unknown. It also shows how Pinkham's efficient algorithm for drawing a simple random sample can be adapted to suit the present situation.

AMS (1980) subject classification. Primary 62D05, secondary 65U05.

Key words and phrases. Probability proportional to aggregate size sampling, probability, proportional to size sampling, simple random sampling without replacement.
