SUMMARY.  Robustness of incomplete block designs useful for making test treatments- control comparisons against loss of a single observation pertaining to a test treatment is investigated in terms of connectedness property as well as the lower bound to the efficiency of the residual design. In particular, the efficiency of balanced treatment incomplete block designs is investigated.

AMS (1991) subject classification.  62K05, 05B05, 62K10.

Key words and phrases. BIB designs, SR-BIB designs, BTIB designs, connectedness, efficiency.
