SELECTING THE t BEST CELLS OF A MULTINOMIAL DISTRIBUTION

SUMMARY. The problem of selecting a subset of s (>= t) cells which
contains the t best cells of a multinomial distribution is considered for the fixed-sample-size
selection procedure for arbitrary s and t,
s > = t. The least favourable configuration over the difference zone is obtained for large sample sizes. This settles two interesting conjectures about the least favourable configuration by Chen and Hwang ( Commun. Statist. - Theor. Meth. 13(10), 1289-98, 1984) in the affirmative.
