NONNEGATIVE ESTIMATION OF VARIANCE COMPONENTS: A MODIFICATION TO HENDERSON'S ANOVA METHODOLOGY

SUMMARY. In order to obtain the nonnegative estimators of variance components, a modification to Henderson's ANOVA method is suggested. In the process, the requirement of unbiasedness of the estimators is sacrificed.
