SOME OPTIMAL ORTHOGONAL AND NEARLY-ORTHOGONAL BLOCK DESIGNS FOR COMPARING A SET OF TEST TREATMENTS TO A SET OF STANDARD TREATMENTS

SUMMARY. In this paper, we consider experimental situations in which t test treatments are to be compared to s standard treatments in b blocks of size k. Methods are given for determining and constructing optimal and highly efficient orthogonal and nearly orthogonal block designs for such situations. Some examples are also given to show how the results obtained can be applied.
